Now for the hyunlix x twin peaks fanfic research from yesterday. Here's my full translated version, taking from a few different auto-translations and compiling

If I use this poem, I think i might just use the final line. Again, i think i find hyunjin's commentary after reading the line, as translated in the video captions "not everyone in high places is an angel" even more interesting and pertinent for this fic.

So then do i do something even weirder and take his own real words and make them into a poem he reads? somehow i feel this is the right thing to do. some combination of the words just as they are?

anyway, another night has passed where i haven't written the chapter, but just meandered around this poetry. and i am fine with that. for whatever reason, this decision seems quite important. 

I think i'd like to use white flower imagery, since i already feel that represents hyunlix. And the moon imagery as well for hyunjin. so for the lines i'd like to use, probably

Are you afraid?

Because I loved

Because I ended up loving

this seems like what he would be telling himself in this moment.  

and "I don’t want it to heal" because that pain will keep him alive. The investigation will keep him alive.

i have continued my delving into this lynchian hyunjin fanfic project. 

today i wanted to explore some of the poetry that hyunjin has read since my idea for the upcoming scene was that he was going to return to his house and read some poetry before bed.

and i found a few concrete poems, but not many. and it was shockingly hard to find. i thought with an idol so popular, these works would be easier to identify and locate. 

let's start with the one that was the most challenging and therefore the most rewarding. 

From this book

now, the poem that Hyunjin quotes in a vlog is 다족의 천사 (“Angel with Many Feet”)

and i think i found at least an except of this on somebody's instagram caption:

critters + overwhelm

i feel like ive been busy (1) watching F1 - that was fun. We watched the race last night, live. (2) writing a new fanfic (and from that, consuming quite a lot about Twin Peaks in preparation). (3) i edited a video.

also the garden. The garden is taking a lot of time, but my goodness, it time well spent. the critters. i love the critters. 

anyway i'm kinda freaking out right now because i need to pee and i need to put my laundry in the drier and i need to take a shower but i also need to go to sleep. so i'm kinda stressing so i gotta go bye. 

hotel bar + apple blossoms

i started writing the Hyunlix x Twin Peaks crossover fanfic. not sure if it will ever complete or see the light of day at this point, but i felt the need to do it, so i did. also, i think i might need to rewatch Twin Peaks in order to feel equipped to write this. 

But at the same time as writing, I was listening to music and had a handful of musical memories

(1) the song Click by Charli xcx came on. this features Tommy Cash. I saw Tommy Cash open for Oliver Tree when I saw him in maybe 2018. Winaloto was the standout from that experience. 

(2) a new White Reaper album came out. I saw them when I went to Cal Jam in 2017. and i remembered that i got drunk with some band at the hotel bar the night before. Anyway, i didn't know what the band was and then i saw them perform the next day. They turned out to be The Struts, which tbh is not exactly my thing, but they did a collabo with Kesha, can you believe that. 

I wouldn't expect either the Charli xcx or Kesha collabs, so isn't the world fun. 

my apple tree is blooming this spring. I planted her from a seed so maybe i'll get to try a fully unique apple this fall.

moth draft + lynchian hyunjin

yesterday (and today) i filmed a video where i chat all about fanfic. so that should be fun to edit (LOL it's so much footage. apparently i could talk about fanfic forever)

and then just now i was working on my moth song.

i'm kind of happy again with it now. i might upload a version to youtube just so i can listen to it in the context of other music. I feel like I usually have to do that a couple times before I'm more solid with it. 

been really listening to Lover by Hyunjin a lot. The music video has been reminding me a lot of Twin Peaks and now i have in my brain a weird idea for a hyunjin twin peaks kind of crossover. It's just kind of bopping around in my brain right now. The song Long For You also reminds me of the Twin Peaks theme, so... i think this one really might be in the cards. 

here is an especially twin peaksy screenshots of the mv - it seems to me just a blue theme rather than red. I feel like the black and white stuff especially resonates with some of the imagery from the newer rebooted season. 

i should go through and take some screenshots tomorrow... but who knows what i'll want to do tomorrow

post show + moth glow

I've been working on my "You Left the Light On" soft moth love song. 

i was pretty happy with it for the night, and then i listened to some real music, c u never by tomcbumpz & piri, and this moth sonG AINT IT. LOL. it definitely needs some work. 

But i worked on single artwork and here she is. I quite like her. 

i did quite a lot of chores today including the dishes. While I washed the dishes, i explored some music, one being party at club bug! by spellcasting which is (1) an excellent idea (2) has excellent artwork. Like isn't this just so cute!! 

it's been hard the last couple days coming down from the high of being at a show. god i love live music so much. the thought of returning to work tomorrow 🤮 i just don't know if i can handle that

Oh, and yes, i did finish my chapter 40 of my fanfic ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ

miss bashful + updates

where have i been? i've just been prioritizing other things - mostly rest and if i have time to do something creative, i've been spending that time on not the daily blog. I hope you understand.

last night i went to see Miss Bashful in San Francisco. i had a great time 💖

some notable moments:

• Miss Madeline shouting out Chase Icon and playing Stilletto Pumps in the Pool because girl, i love that song
• Luca Eck playing Brutalismus 3000 (idk what song but they're like my favorites in life, so it really didn't even matter), U&ME by Six Sex, and CSIRAC by Ninajirachi (especially that it was CSIRAC which is an absolute fave)
• a man passed out cold during Slut Commandments, which is one of my favorites from Miss Bashful. My husband helped carry him off to medical. 
• There were two puppies next to me during the opening dj
• A small gay man called me beautiful outside the venue <3

and I've made progress on Chapter 40 of my Apothecary Diaries x TOTK fanfic. I'm hoping to finish that up today or tomorrow. 

more ideas than will + an unusual sighting

i'm finally working on writing a new chapter for my Apothecary Diaries x TOTK fic. I've just found myself thinking about them since i had such a fun time editing the chapter i posted yesterday and i know readers are getting excited that the party will be meeting Zelda soon. 

BUT, this chapter i had to check some logistical things and I had to raft down a waterway in TOTK to test the possibilities. Link is too capable sometimes and I need to remember that this is a whole group of regular-ass humans he's with. 

i had some ideas today of what to do when i got home, and i didn't do any of them. 

The ideas: 

do some planting - i did not

start my network of literature project (where I put together a web of works found in the epigraphs of the books i've read) 

I also thought of putting together some network of musicians i've been listening to recently. Danny Brown would be a nexus of them for sure. because i'll kind of think that some musicians are unrelated just because they were within different presonal eras, but then they've made music together (e.g. 1tbsp and Ninajirachi). But this is much more nebulous and difficult, but it is something i note while listening. 

look into songs that sample Neon Genesis Evangelion. Because of the Dreamcore song and also that album avolition by requiem for you that uses Asuka artwork as the cover art. 

I'm thinking more in weird little video ideas recently. But I didn't have the will to do any of this when i got home. I watered some plants and took care of my animals. 

And brainstormed the plot for the upcoming chapter. 

and listened to Nightcore a lot of times. 

and the sky is really clear tonight and the moon is new and i saw the most UFO-looking thing i've ever seen. i'm not sure if it was like a reflection of light somehow or some sort of spiderweb but this is what I saw: Something kind of in a conical shape (kind of like what breaking the soundbarrier looks like) but moving very quickly. I thought it might be some sort of light reflecting perhaps on a lower cloud layer, but the sky was very clear. And then I thought maybe it was just a drifting spiderweb or some sort of web-like thing. But it wasn't close enough for my flashlight to catch. a bit strange. and after that i felt pretty uneasy and went back inside with my dog. 

weed suppression + prehistoric immersion

i gardened around today. i had to clear my paths by blocking out grass and weeds with newspaper and cardboard, but the weather was really lovely for that.

also watched the F1 race in the morning. not sure i like these new cars with the passing back and forth so much. it seems a little silly

i finished reading the Book Tyrant Lizard Queen, which i had gotten from NetGalley, so i also reviewed that today (5 stars from me... this is exactly what i would love more of in this world)

Here's my review for Tyrant Lizard Queen by Riley Black 

This book immediately hooked me with its concept. I’ve often wondered why we don’t use what we know from science to imagine richer fictional lives for non-human beings, so a story that inhabits the life of a Tyrannosaurus rex felt like exactly the kind of speculative storytelling I dream about.

I had a brief moment of concern in the introduction when the narrative shifted to a human perspective, but that quickly gave way to the heart of the story with the hatching of Snaggletooth, a baby T. rex. From that point on, the book follows Snaggletooth from her youth to adulthood.

The appendices show how thoughtfully the author, Riley Black, engages with the available paleontological research when constructing the world of this young tyrannosaur, filling in the inevitable gaps with informed imagination.

What I loved most was how immersive the environment felt. The book drops the reader into a vividly imagined prehistoric ecosystem. I especially enjoyed the mentions of specific plants and landscapes; reading about redwoods and sequoias while visiting them myself made the experience feel strangely immediate, like stepping into a distant but tangible past.

The ending felt a little abrupt for me. While I understand the symmetry of ending the story in a way that mirrors its beginning, I found myself reluctant to leave this long-gone world and would happily have spent more time there.

Overall, Tyrant Lizard Queen is a fascinating blend of science, imagination, and narrative that invites readers to experience the ancient world through the eyes of one of its most iconic creatures.

But it has a vocal quality like Valencia Grace (who my husband is convinced is the next It Girl.) evil cute angel bb by AMARA ctk100 & DBBD, Psychotrance by Baby Jane (which i'm real into rn)

exploding + youtube channel ideas

I brainstormed some of my youtube channel video ideas when i got home. it's been a little frustrating, but i've been thinking a bit more deeply about what i want that channel to be. since i've been having a good time with my recent videos, i want to translate that into something that the right people (the people who will want that) will find and enjoy. mostly it's exploring my own curiosities and the linkings my brain makes between different medias and larger discussions.

so because it's leaning away from a full typical booktube channel, i want to explore other ideas that will make the channel feel more like itself and become what it wants to be. 

so here are some of the ideas ive had

(1) why and how i made an EP even though i'm not trying to be a musical artist professionally

(2) looking at Hyunjin's book recommendations

(3) recommending books I think Hyunjin from Stray Kids would like 

(4) the story of how i went from someone who hadn't even read a fanfic to posting 20 chapters of one in my 30s 

(5) mapping out a web of literature references from the books on my shelf (not sure how to market this one yet, but the concept being that i look at the epigraphs at the beginning of my books and build out a map, could be a part of a series)  

(6) a series of reading albums like poetry or literature such as Brat or Imaginal Disk 

and also just a pure booktube idea, my favorite translated works

i filmed part of a video this afternoon which was recommending books based on the songs that randomly pop up from my liked music playlist. 

feeling extremely easy to irritate today, but also feeling a drive to do things. it's overall a very frustrating feeling because i'd like to be functional, but i also feel like im exploding. 

trashcans + something familiar

i bought a few things for my house. when i was putting my laundry away the other day, i noticed that i always have little dryer sheets or the weird compressed napkins that made it through the wash that i'd like to throw away. 

so i got a trashcan (but actually 2 because i thought we could probably use another one in another room as well) 

they're both "vintage" 

and i also got some fridge magnets because we have so many cards we like to display on our fridge, but we don't have enough magnets, and they end up sliding off and then i put them on the counter, but i don't really want to throw the pictures out. so i got some magnets. Hopefully these magnets are strong enough.

and that's pretty much what i did this evening. 

i also went through a bunch of recently listened to songs and picked what i would want to put on my march playlist.

i listened to the Imaginal Disk album by Magdalena Bay. I imagine this could stranglehold me like Addison did last year. it's got an addictive quality

Vampire in the Corner particularly was puzzling me this morning because it sounds SO FAMILIAR and SO NOSTALGIC and i'm almost sure there's something that sounds like it that plops me right in my childhood. the only songs i could pull from my brain are Vampyre of Time and Memory by Queens of the Stone Age and Carnival by The Cardigans. 

it's the moments at 1:08 and 1:58 and 2:32. i just don't know what it is.

I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT i think i'm thinking of Running by No Doubt, specifically the line "Me, I’m the one you chose" because i just keep thinking of sitting on my crusty ass bedroom floor with the boombox in the corner of my desk. And I really did that the most to No Doubt... But i never had that album. idk, man

Recently been reading Heaven Official's Blessing. I'm finding it a little confusing thus far. I keep imagining the landscape of the Great Sky Island when we're talking about the heavenly realm.

balance + eye color

i'm thinking of mostly "taking the weekends off" for any sort of creative project work except for my booktube channel to help me balance doing chores and socializing. In the evenings after work it seems that i require some amount of decompression through creative projects, but on the weekends, i almost need a break from that as well.

for it i took these two photos i took in the woods the other weekend and extracted some colors. My husband told me that the water running through the woods was the same color as my eyes, but when side by side, my eyes seem much greener. Perhaps i need to take a photo of my eyes with more light. 

but anyway, maybe i have green eyes? i've never been super sure of the color of my eyes since it doesn't seem very clear to me. 

i just realized i had an error editing my video and just had to use the youtube editor which was suepr clunky. but anyway, now i'm going to tuck into bed. 

children's books + mafatshi leh

after work, i read some children's books. i'll be gifting them to a child tomorrow so today was my last day to read them. then i took a nap and went to get a pie. it was all very successful.

Children's book number 1: A Pocketful of Pets. This book was weird and i did not like the illustration style, but it does teach children some different animals. I kind of liked this grasshopper

Children's book number 2: The Knight and the Dragon by Tomie DePaola. I LOVED THIS ONE. it was so cute, i kind of wish i could keep it for myself. artwork and story were both great 

Children's book number 3: Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts 

Considering i am an engineer, i did enjoy this. it's very focused on flight/airplanes, however, and though i took quite a handful of aerospace classes, i was more interested in the space than the aero. overall, a very good book

been working on my moth song tonight. it's still not quite shaping into the song of my hopes and dreams, but it's more of something than nothing. 

i've been pretty tired. 

my cat Big Al has been waking me up early in the morning.

he's learned he can bang the linen closest door into our bedroom door and it's a fairly effective method for me to get up. He's not even that hungry in the morning, but he does seem just super desperate for love and affection. 

and now i'm just too tired to be around anymore, so i'm gonna fall asleep promptly

i had a good day today. saw the sun and blue sky. saw some geese hanging out in the grass when i left work.

listened to a band called 退格 or Backspace. Specifically the song 六眼蜻蜓, which i guess translates to six-eyed dragonfly. The single artwork does track with that.

i got a new comment on the fanfic chapter that i'd posted yesterday 

"I wasn’t expecting this to pull me in like that."

i hope this is a real comment from a real reader, and if so, it is some level of an accomplishment because that was on a chapter 24,821 words in.
